Set in 22 acres of land on the meadow between Richmond and Kingston upon Thames is the last remaining Polo Club in London – the wonderful Ham Polo Club.
This venue is a real treat and a very pleasant surprise. We’ve been to so many venues and the thing that always makes the great venues stand out from the good venues is the feeling you get when you’re there. Although Ham Polo Club is simply a permanent marquee in between two polo fields, the atmosphere is superbly relaxing. The colonial style wooden club house building is a delight and well worth visiting.
This quirky venue gives you the great feeling of being in a Mediterranean country (even in the cooler months) as inside it’s decorated with vines. The Moroccan style lounge verandah is beautifully decorated to give a rich and warm feeling and the sides of the marquee can be opened for those balmy summer evenings.
Emma and her team at Hunt Kendall provide superb service and delicious food. Their attention to detail and organisational skills are fantastic and all the wedding guests we’ve spoken to comment on how relaxed the whole day feels.
There is a raised terrace where you can have the drinks reception and occasionally there will be a polo match to enjoy. The elevation of the drinks terrace also provides superb sunset views. There is also a small garden area and plenty of room for parking (a rarity in London!).
Ham Polo Club is licensed for weddings and the number of guests ranges from small, intimate dinners for 50 persons, 140 for sit down in the club house or up to 400 with additional marquees.
