Dan was best man at Rhys and Tizzy’s wedding last year and it was great to meet up with them again and meet two other couples who’s weddings we’re photographing in 2012.

Caroline got ready at the couple’s new house which Dan has been working tirelessly to get decorated. He’s done an amazing job and it was a great place to take photographs of the girls’ preparations. Then it was on to Turkey Mill for the personalised ceremony, including a Bible talk.

The weather was not too kind but that wasn’t going to stop Dan & Caroline from taking full advantage of the lovely setting and beautiful countryside. Special mention has to go to the best man and one of the ushers for following us around with umbrellas to shelter us from the pouring rain.

It was a fantastic day full of fun and love. Then in the evening the couple performed an amazing first dance. We had high expectations as Caroline is a dance teacher and it was superb.

The day started at Chloe’s house and this is her amazing dress, interestingly found for her by her Dad.

We thought that Chloe’s hair looked amazing.

You could tell she was pleased with the final result!

As were her friends who were all waiting downstairs.

Chloe’s shoes were really stunning and from a company we’d not heard of before: Irregular Choice. They have some really fun and different stuff on their website.

Meanwhile Richard was with Josh as the guys got ready.


Keeping with the funky theme of the wedding, the guys all had very colourful socks.

Then it was off to Southfleet Village Hall for the reception.

The couple had arranged for lots of fun games and activities for the guests.

A bouncy castle for the little kids.

And the big kids.

Then later in the evening we had the speeches which included a brilliant slideshow montage from the best man.

We couldn’t resist a few photos in the evening light.

This is only the second time we’ve seen a couple have their first dance outside but both times it has worked so well.

Amongst the guests were 4 couples whose weddings we had photographed before so there was lots of catching up to do!! It was lovely to be with the families and be part of their celebration.

Sarah was particularly impressed with Gabriella’s shoes from Dune. How she managed to walk in them for the whole day we’ve no idea!

Gabriella looked stunning.

Gabriella’s sisters were bridesmaids and we love their gorgeous handmade dresses.

Richard would like to let you all know that it tastes even better than it looks!

Gabriella’s Dad Steve gave the most heartfelt wedding speech we’ve ever heard. It was hard for everyone to hold back the tears.

Then to lighten the mood we were entertained with a slideshow of Gabriella’s childhood photos and a hilarious video of Tom dancing!

So here are our favourites from Rhys and Tizzy’s wedding. We love all our weddings but this one was extra special, lots of friends around, a beautiful setting and a wonderful couple who were a joy to photograph.

For a change we thought we’d start with the guys getting ready!!

A very proud Dad!

We couldn’t resist stopping off on the way to the ceremony for a shot by these wonderful rapeseed fields. The colours worked together so well.

As well as walking her up the aisle, Tizzy’s Dad John gave a brilliant wedding talk.

Then we went to the beautiful grounds at Beech Court Gardens.

And to finish off the day John also gave an excellent speech.

The nearby playground proved irresistible!

The evening light was incredible so we had to take a few more pictures.

Then onto the dancing.

Now some of our eagle eyed fans may recognise one of these bridesmaids; on the left is Ellie-May who’s wedding to Joe we photographed last year. Ellie-May is also sister to the groom. However, she’s dramatically changed her hair colour and many of the guests, including Sarah at the beginning of the day, didn’t recognise her at all as it’s such a transformation. It was lovely to see her and her family again.

Proof that babies can sleep anywhere when they need too (even a noisy dance floor)!!

Along with the beautiful photos we were able to do some ‘tongue in cheek’ shots.

One of the things that made us friends with Steph & Si was their appreciation for our use of flare. So here’s a deliberate flare shot.

Rant coming: When we say to couples that the light is right now we mean NOW! Here are some photos of beautiful countryside, phenomenal evening light and a great couple who came THEN!

Steph & Si are very literate and had taken the time to write out an iindividually selected quote on the reverse of everyone’s place card.

They had also given everyone an engraved shot glass full of sweets to take home.

And how cool is it to not only have the groom play in a rock band but to have his father join him on stage!

Steph and Si thanks for being so wonderful for us, we love you very much and wish you every blessing.

This next shot truly isn’t posed.

Canterbury has some great cafes and bars to enjoy before the big event. One of the ushers remarked that it was a bit weird having a beer at 11 o’clock in the morning but it didn’t seem to hinder his enjoyment of it.

The crypt at Canterbury is, as you’d expect, a very dark place to try and take photos. Our cameras were pushed to the limit. However, it did mean that we got some incredibly atmospheric images.

Outside it was very bright and a beautiful day.

We did our best to make full use of the wonderful architecture.

Priyan and Hester’s first dance was a classic. Here’s Priyan taking his jacket off – John Travolta style.

Rebekah was more worried about being on time than any other bride we’ve met – so here she is walking down the aisle one minute after 12!!
